Mound Westonka is located west of Lake Minnetonka in Minnestrista, Minnesota. It serves the communities that are located west of Minnetonka on the western part of Lake Minnetonka. Over 900 students make up 2015 enrollment for the school which includes grades 8-12.
In June of 2013, Schwickert’s started a reroof project on the school for a contract amount of 1.4 million dollars. The project included demolishing the existing built-up roof system down to the existing deck. Schwickert’s installed 116,200 square feet of 60 mil fully adhered Carlisle EPDM roofing system over a fully tapered insulation system over concrete deck and metal deck.
The job was impressive due to the size, scope, and its short time frame of completion of only three months. The removed material took nearly 150 30 yard dumpsters to dispose of. Some of the roof sections had over 10 inches of roofing material to remove and dispose of.
The mechanical system was fully removed and a new more efficient system was being installed. With all of the roof top units being torn out or eliminated, there was a lot of coordination required to ensure the building stayed water-tight throughout the duration of the project. The scope of work also included performing all of the roof related wood blocking to install the units.
