Project Scope of Work
The Owatonna City Hall was built in 1887 as the Minnesota State Public School for Dependent and Neglected Children. The orphanage closed in 1947 and became the Owatonna State School in 1970. In 1974, the City of Owatonna then purchased the building for its City office space.
In 2019, Schwickert’s was hired as Roofing Contractor to complete a full reroof, as well as install a heat tape system on the historic City building. The project included the removal of the existing asphalt roof system, followed by the installation of DaVinci Single Width Shake in a European Blend color, a heat melt system and snow guards.
The Owatonna City Hall has had serious ice dam issues in the past, which lead to the need of a complete reroof. Schwickert’s installed Warmquest ZMASH Under-Roof Deicing System, as well as power and control wiring under the roofing seal layer. The addition of the heat melt system and snow guards will help mitigate those issues moving forward.
